The Closet Challenge: Weekend Roundup – Week 4

The closet challenge

Gah! It has taken me two days to get around to this week’s weekend roundup, and then I posted the wrong Canva, and inadvertently accidentally deleted my entire post. SO, here we go, take two! Anyway, below are the outfits I put together last week. There are only 6 outfits this week because I spent Sunday in my sweats binge watching Scandal (oopsie). If you want daily peaks into what I’m putting together outfit-wise follow me in Insta: Wishbonedreams. Cheers!

The Closet Challenge: Weekend Roundup – Week 3

Weekend Roundup wk 3

Hello my fellow readers ~ So, week 3 has come and gone and I managed to snap photos of everything I wore. I actually don’t think I have repeated anything in the last 3 weeks, which is either a good thing or a bad thing…I’m unsure 🙂

I’m finding that in order to stay consistent I’m planning out my outfits either days before or the at the very least the night before. Not only is it saving me time, but it is also saving me from a messy bedroom. I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to create a huge mess when I don’t have any idea what to wear, so I’m finding that this is helpful. I fell off the clothes buying wagon on Sunday though. Madewell was having an additional 30% off clearance, and I picked up a super cute sweater poncho (which I’m sportin this week so you’ll see it!)

So, while I haven’t stuck firmly to my no buying clothes, accessories etc., challenge I am definitely doing better with utilizing what I already have! Hopefully by the end of this I’ll have even more to donate to Savers. Until then, my weekly roundup of outfits is below.

The Closet Challenge: Weekend Roundup – Week 2

The Closet Challenge- Weekend Roundup - Week 2

Week two went well! Though, I will say that when I get disappointed or flustered about something, I’m realizing that my go-to coping mechanism is to buy something. I was definitely feeling like that on Friday, AND Anthropologie was having an additional 30% off of their clearance items. Double whammy. I looked, but didn’t see much I was interested in (thank goodness), but did purchase a new top for my birthday celebration shenanigans this weekend. I realize that goes against my challenge, but baby steps people! 🙂

Anyway, my outfits were a bit more manageable since I was in training two days last week so I was sporting jeans three days (including Friday). In addition, I donated 6 garbage bags of clothes and two boxes of shoes this weekend! It felt fantastic to get those items out of my house! Definitely a win for #closetclutterchallenge and #closeteditor.

Check out the photos from last week (I’m missing Friday’s outfit as I was out the door before I even realized I didn’t take a photo).

Be sure to follow me on IG: Wishbonedreams and on on FB! I’m taking a social media marketing class these days so I’m hoping to grow my following and get tips and tricks that way!

Are you participating in the closet clutter challenge? If so, I want to hear from you!

The Closet Challenge: Weekend Roundup – Week One

www.wishbonedreams.com

Well, well, well…I have to say week one went well! I did my best to photographically document the outfits I wore this week via Instagram. I found that it helped if I tried to lay out my outfits ahead of time. I know this probably sounds like a “duh” moment, but it really truly does help. Check out the outfits I put together below and happy closet decluttering!

Week two begins tomorrow, and I have 4 out of 5 work days already laid out. I find the challenge is always sticking with what I’ve put out for the week and not just running for my jeans an easy flow top 🙂

Follow me on Instagram to see the outfits daily! And, if you have any tips or tricks on how to keep your checkbook in order, and still look trendy and put together everyday, PLEASE let me know. In the meantime, happy #closetclutterchallenge and #closeteditor.

The Closet Challenge

Lately I’ve been feeling like my space at home is shrinking. My space to store shoes, my space to hang my clothes, my space to store even my underwear and socks! It’s just plain and simple ridiculous, and a reminder that I have too damn much!

So, I told myself, “Nikki, you DO NOT need to buy anything else, like ever!” Now, I realize that’s a little extreme, and I’ve made myself a couple of exceptions, but for the most part I’m boycotting buying the following item types:

  • No more shoes – only exception is my brother’s wedding – of which I am a bridesmaid
  • No more clothes – this includes pants, tops, sweaters, dresses, skirts, shorts, hats, scarves…you name it. The only exception here is the dress I need to purchase for my brother’s wedding
  • No more purses – like really? I don’t need another purse
  • No more jewelry – again only exception is if it’s for the wedding

The second bullet is really the one that has brought me to think up this challenge for myself. I am going to challenge myself to not buy anything new (outside of wedding-related items),  for the next 6 months (beginning on July 1st – because don’t we always want a fresh start to also begin at the beginning of a new month?)

During those 6 months I will be encouraging myself to get creative with what I already freaking have! I’ll be sure to check-in weekly, to keep myself honest, and to post the outfits I was able to pull out of my bulging closets – yes that’s plural, (I have one enclosed closet, and one external closet), and chest of drawers.

At the end of those 6 months I’m hoping to have less money spent and a new appreciation for the wardrobe that already exists. The double whammy is the exciting idea that maybe, just maybe I’ll have also begun clearing out some of the clothes I’ve just been hanging on to (aka hoarding) instead of giving away to people who could use them.

If anyone is interested in joining me, I encourage you to post your updates and photos to my weekly blog posts and Instagram (Find me! Wishbonedreams). I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’ll be using #closetclutterchallenge and #closeteditor in both my blog posts and IG. If you post something on IG definitely hashtag it! I think it will be a fun way to motivate one another to not look at our closets every morning and say, ” I have nothing to wear!”
